Michael Smith

Michael Smith is Senior Vice President, Accounting Systems and Implementations at LBMC W Squared, LLC, where he serves on the senior management team. One of his key roles is leading the Implementation team where he oversees a streamlined and systematic approach to onboarding new clients. He is an expert in understanding complex business structures and develops accounting and financial reporting processes to meet clients’ needs. During his tenure, Michael has been responsible for implementing more than 500+ clients across various industries and sizes. He is a respected leader in accounting systems, business process analysis, and is a systems implementation subject matter expert.

Michael joined W Squared in 2006 as the first Senior Accountant while the company was getting started. From 2006 to 2011, Michael worked with various clients doing full cycle accounting, financial reporting, and day to day client management. In 2011, he moved from accounting to the accounting systems IT team where he combined his knowledge in accounting with his talent for understanding systems and integrations. In this role, he was able to support the growth of the company by creating process efficiencies and scalable solutions that could be applied across the client base.

In 2017, when W Squared became a part of the LBMC family of companies, Michael was an integral part of the management team that supported the merger and integration of the businesses practices that led the company to where it is today.

Michael has vast experience with Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics GP, QuickBooks, Bill.com and many other accounting related systems. He is a certified Intacct Implementation Specialist and an Accounting Certified Consultant. He proudly serves on the Accounting Firm Advisory Council for Bill.com.

Prior to joining W Squared, he worked for HCA in the Physician Services Group.
